Shanghai Digauto CSO Rainer Hoffman attended the 2021 FISITA Intelligent Safety Conference China on July 16, 2021, where he presented VTEHIL, a novel technology for assessing the Safety Performance of full Vehicles in ADAS and ADS Scenarios.

Mr. Hoffman presented a novel technology for assessing the Safety Performance of full Vehicles in ADAS and ADS Scenarios - VTEHIL - in the session on the topic of expected functional safety,which will be available to all users involved in the development of automated assistance and driving systems and ADS safety assurance.For the development of ADAS systems to fully autonomous functions, Mr. Hoffman believes it depends on how we define intelligence, and there is no doubt that advances in sensor technology and computing power will make further ADAS systems possible. At the same time, Mr. Hoffman also proposed that regulations are a prerequisite for any safety-critical technology to enter any market in the world, and the key to the development of intelligent safety technology is the improvement of regulations.

Mr. Hoffman, who has been working on automotive safety before joining Digauto, said that a new era without motor accidents is the vision and endeavor of all of us, and we must use human intelligence instead of focusing only on machines.
